Whether it’s assisting indigenous peoples in the interior forests of Borneo to maintain their independence and traditions, creating sacred gardens in Bodhgaya at the site of the of the Bodhi Tree where the Buddha reached enlightenment, working with local people and international aid organizations to maintain sacred spaces in India, creating open spaces for people to connect to the larger world around them, healing fragile ecosystems, or fostering an ethic of love and kindness through environmental education, she has always felt a profound connection to the earth. She has done extensive conservation and education work for Sierra Club, Earth Island Institute, Wilderness Society, Nature Conservancy, Grand Canyon National Park, and many National Forests.
including dance, circus contortion, rowing, swimming, mountain biking, Ultimate frisbee, rock climbing, skiing, snowboarding, volleyball, wilderness trekking, and more. All her life she has been exploring limits with her body and spirit: reaching outward through the boundaries and, in doing so, reaching inward through the layers toward her own true self. Stefanie brings this to her classes—which are outwardly athletic and inwardly soul searching—exploring the reaches of the physical body to find the depth of the heart.
